Lodge Visit to the National Memorial Arboretum

Updated: Aug 4, 2022

On the 20th July 15 members of the lodge and their ladies had a day out to visit the National Memorial Arboretum.

Members were collected from Bury Masonic Hall at 9:30 in a very plush, brand new 17 seater minibus driven very skilfully by Bro Jeremy Foster. We arrived at 12:00 with a very warm welcome from the Arboretum staff and the first visit was to the canteen for lunch although the Staffordshire based caterers panicked as they hadn't had such copious amounts of gravy orders for quite a period of time.

The day commenced with the Brethren and their ladies visiting the abundance of memorials dedicated to the various branches of the armed forces and emergency services from the UK and Commonwealth.

The visit ended with a brilliant band which was an unexpected surprise. Unfortunately the Fun Police had to round everyone up at 4PM to ensure the minibus went back to the hire company on time.

In summary everyone had a fantastic day, the weather was kind to us, not too hot and the rain stayed off, on the way back a certain brother pulled out a bottle of rusty nail which ensured there was a rowdy bunch on the back of the minibus by the time everybody arrived back at the masonic hall.

We will certainly be having another group outing very soon.
